Happy Swimmers FAQs (Baby & Kids Swimming Lessons)

What should I bring to the class?

A swim nappy and a happy nappy (double nappy system), a wetsuit to keep your little one warm, a changing mat, clean towels, extra clothes, a clean dry nappy, snacks, and drinks.

Does my little one need to be vaccinated before attending a session?

Following NHS guidelines, your little one does not need to be vaccinated before attending the first session. However, if your baby was premature, please check with your GP or health practitioner first.

What if my child has been sick?

If your little one has had diarrhoea or vomiting, please wait 72 hours after symptoms have cleared before attending a session.

What is the pool temperature like?

The pool is maintained at an average temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, making it safe and comfortable for babies and young children.

Is it okay for my baby to go underwater?

Babies have a gag reflex, which helps prevent water from entering their lungs. However, at Happy Swimmers, we always follow a child-led approach, meaning we never submerge a baby who is not ready. Your child's safety and comfort are our top priorities.

What age can my baby start swimming?

There is no strict minimum age, but we recommend starting at 2 months old. If your baby was born prematurely, consult your health practitioner before enrolling.

Happy Movers FAQs (Baby, Toddler & Kids Yoga)

What should I bring to class?

A comfortable yoga mat, a small blanket for relaxation, water, and an extra set of clothes for little ones. We recommend wearing soft, stretchy clothes that allow free movement.

What happens in a baby yoga class?

Our baby yoga classes combine gentle movements, stretches, and relaxation techniques designed for babies and their caregivers. We use famous UK nursery rhymes and songs to guide our yoga adventures, helping babies develop coordination, flexibility, and body awareness.

What happens in toddler and kids' yoga classes?

We use stories, songs, and imaginative play to engage children in fun yoga poses. These classes help with balance, focus, emotional regulation, and physical development in an age-appropriate way.

What if my child doesn't follow the poses exactly?

That's perfectly fine! Our yoga classes are child-led, meaning there's no pressure to perform poses perfectly. The goal is for kids to have fun, explore movement, and enjoy mindfulness at their own pace.

Can parents join in?

Yes! Parent participation is encouraged, especially in baby and toddler yoga sessions. It's a wonderful bonding experience and helps children feel more comfortable.

A change of clothes, a towel, wipes, and a plastic bag for wet or messy items. We recommend dressing your little one in old clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Is messy play safe for babies and toddlers?

Yes! All our materials are non-toxic, child-safe, and taste-safe where appropriate. We ensure all activities are age-appropriate and supervised.

What happens in a messy play session?

Children explore different textures, materials, and sensory experiences through paint, water, sand, foam, and more. Messy play encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and cognitive development in a fun, hands-on way.

Can my baby join messy play even if they don't sit up yet?

Yes! Babies can explore textures while lying on their tummy or sitting with support. Messy play is all about sensory exploration at each child's individual level.

How messy does it get?

Very messy—but that's part of the fun! We do our best to keep things manageable, but we recommend bringing extra clothes for both you and your child.

Happy Signers FAQs (Baby Sign Language Classes)

What should I bring to a baby sign language class?

Nothing special—just yourself and your little one! We provide all materials, including visual aids and songs to help you learn the signs.

What happens in a baby sign language class?

We teach parents and caregivers key signs (like 'milk', 'more', and 'all done') through songs, stories, and interactive activities. This helps babies communicate their needs before they can speak, reducing frustration and tantrums.

What age can babies start learning sign language?

We encourage babies and parents to start from birth because the parents get used to signing and learn the signs by heart and start communicating signs to baby at home. The ideal age for babies to learn signing is as early as 6 months old but even younger babies benefit from exposure. Most babies begin signing back between 6 to 12 months.

Do I need to know sign language before joining?

No prior experience is needed! We teach everything in class in a fun and easy way. Parents, caregivers, and even older siblings can join in.

Will signing delay my baby's speech?

No! In fact, research shows that signing supports language development by helping babies connect words with meaning. Many signing babies speak earlier than their non-signing peers.
